Meet Ash
Ash Nayyar is a Kaipara District Councillor and community advocate running for Mayor to freeze rates, restore transparency, and put locals first. A former banker with 16 years in finance, Ash has spent nearly a decade in Kaipara working alongside farmers, tradespeople, volunteers, and families.

He’s challenged closed-door council decisions, demanded accountability for unspent funding, and championed practical spending over pet projects. Ash believes in using local knowledge — not consultants — to solve local problems.
In a time of rising costs and broken trust, Ash is running to deliver honest leadership, open books, and a council that serves the people who fund it.

From dust-seal nightmares in the west to potholes across key arterial routes, Kaipara’s roads have been neglected for too long. Past councils have pushed millions into plans, consultants, and delays — while everyday residents bounce through damage on the way to work or school.
Ash will reprioritise funding from pet projects to essential infrastructure, and work with locals who know the land — not consultants who fly in with no skin in the game. Roads, drainage, and resilience will be fast-tracked, and progress tracked in the open.
